Telegram Wallet temporarily blocked for UK users due to restructuring

Telegram users in the United States are also restricted from using the platform’s in-app wallet due to financial regulations.

Telegram Wallet will be temporarily restricted for users in the United Kingdom — due to a corporate restructuring — and will be available after the company registers as a corporate asset provider, according to a Sept. 25 announcement from the popular messaging app.

The company said it decided to register as a crypto asset provider under the current Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations and will disable the in-app wallet features for UK residents until Telegram has obtained the proper regulatory licenses.
